Europe has been in the news recently regarding the changes happening in the online casino and gaming industry. Many countries are aspiring to legalize and control online casino sites. The EGBA (European Gambling and Betting Association) which was formed in 2007 March is trying its level best to bring about uniformity in the gaming industry in Europe, while some countries are not welcoming this move and trying to circumvent the rules and regulations.
France has been blacklisted by the EGBA for outlining online casino gambling and casino legislation which do not conform to the rules and regulations governing the gaming industry across Europe. On the contrary, Estonia and Denmark have come up with a legislation that conforms to the norms set down by EGBA.
The EGBA are working towards allowing casinos situated in the European Union to operate in Estonia in their Endeavor to expand their operations, but on condition that certain basic criteria are met by the states that wish to operate in Estonia. The rules and parameters would be stringent and the Estonians would ban any online casino which is not properly licensed to operate. This should be operational from January 2010.
Across the globe, from the United States to Europe are becoming aware that legalizing online casinos is a great way to increase revenue, though cost cutting measures are in full swing in all other industries, in the gaming world they seem to be unperturbed and the crisis is hardly felt in some states and countries.
With the concerted efforts of EGBA and other governments all over the world, a positive change is assured in the world of gaming and as gamblers resort to their favorite online slots, roulette, blackjack, casino video poker in the comfort of their home, they could keep on gambling online and let the rest of the world go by!
