Erik Cajelais has emerged the winner in the World Series of Poker Europe in Event 2, claiming his first WSOP bracelet and $169K in prize money. The 27 year old professional from Montreal came close to winning many tournaments in the past, as in the $5K Pot-Limit Omaha event at the 2007 WSOP but finished second. This has been a major breakthrough for him and Cajelais is elated and feels privileged.
WSOPE Event 2, a half Pot-Limit Hold ‘em and half Pot-Limit Omaha tournament attracted 158 players worldwide to the Empire Casino in London last week. The first day of the tournament was played rapidly especially during the Pot-Limit Omaha rounds, and Cajelais proved the best overall chip leader. The second day too went swiftly and Cajelais entered the final table seventh in chips, after having a tough time for two days. The stacked final table had four former WSOP bracelet winners which included Team Full Tilt’s Howard “The Professor” Lederer, along with Men Nguyen and Hoyt Corkins.
The tournament was suspended for the night at which time Cajelais was in fifth place, but the next afternoon saw Cajelais winning a series of big pots to regain the chip lead for the first time since the start of play. Cajelais was in total control and dominated the final hour of play and busted Nguyen in fourth place. At the start of heads-up play Cajelais had a chip lead over Mats Gavatin, a professional Swedish poker player.
A little later Cajelais won a full house in a Pot-Limit Omaha hand and got rid of Gayatin to claim his first WSOP bracelet. Cajelais has won nearly US$1.7 million playing live tournaments around the world. To celebrate his awesome victory Cajelais hurried down to the hall to claim his seat in WSOPE Event 3, the GBP 5000 Pot-Limit Omaha championship which had commenced earlier in the noon.
Cajelais often practices on the internet at online casino gambling poker rooms. It is so convenient and all the big professional poker players play online.
