Denmark was one of the recent countries to legalize and regulate online casino gambling under the instructions of the EU and now the regulators of the European Union have approved Denmark’s new online gambling taxes. The European Commission conducted an in-depth investigation and found that a law removing certain restrictions on gambling would result in online casinos paying lower taxes than land based casinos and these findings prove to comply with rules set down by the European Union.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the EU stated that Danish gambling laws were compatible with the EU rules and that there were positive effects from the liberalization of the market. Denmark is now setting an example for other European countries and online gambling operators and other interest groups were all praise for the Danish initiative. The spokesman for UK Based Betfair, said that Denmark was the best example “of what gambling legislation should look like across Europe”. He also stated that the new were structure gives “Danish consumers and international operators a safe, transparent and competitive online gambling market.”
